Cart & Upsell
Boost AOV with smart in-cart and post-purchase upsells
Cart & Upsell by Navidium shows targeted product offers at cart, checkout, and post-purchase to boost your average order value with zero customer friction.
What Cart & Upsell does
Cart & Upsell by Navidium is a Shopify app built around two systems for increasing average order value: Funnels, which show targeted product offers at key moments in the purchase journey — in the cart, on the product page, at checkout, and after an order is placed — and the Cart Drawer, a fully redesigned, on-brand version of your storefront's cart itself. Most merchants use both.
Everything is configurable from inside the app: which products to offer, when to show each offer, what discount to apply, each widget's appearance, and which pages display upsell offers.
Funnels are built around three core capabilities:
- Smart Triggers — show offers only to the customers most likely to accept them, using product-based, cart-value, customer attribute, and time-based conditions.
- Flexible Placement — display upsells where they'll have the most impact: cart drawer, product page, checkout, post-purchase page, or thank-you page.
- Configurable Widget — customize colors, fonts, button text, product details, and layout to match your brand and store aesthetic.
The Cart Drawer, meanwhile, comes with its own branding controls, a free-shipping progress bar, volume bundles, free gifts, and a built-in upsell carousel — see Carts Overview for the full breakdown.
Funnels vs. the Cart Drawer
There are two ways to add upsells to your store, and most merchants end up using both:
- Funnels — multi-step upsell sequences (Upsell → Placement → Discount → Display → Customize Widget) that you build once and reuse across triggers and placements. Start with Getting Started and Creating a Funnel.
- Carts — a fully redesigned, customizable version of your storefront's cart drawer itself, with its own branding, a free-shipping progress bar, volume bundles, free gifts, and its own upsell carousel built in. See Carts Overview to get started.
Funnels are best for targeted, rule-driven offers at specific moments; the Cart Drawer is best when you want the cart experience itself — not just a single offer inside it — to feel purpose-built for driving AOV.
The business model: why this is almost always a win for you
Cart & Upsell increases your average order value (AOV) by encouraging customers to add complementary products or upgrade to a higher quantity at moments when they're already committed to buying. Unlike some upsell approaches that feel pushy, Navidium's widget is designed to feel helpful — it surfaces products that genuinely complement what's already in the cart.
Studies show that strategic upsells increase AOV by 10–25% for most merchants, and the best results come from contextual offers (products that make sense with what the customer is already buying) rather than random product suggestions. By coupling smart triggers with a thoughtfully designed widget, Cart & Upsell helps you capture that upside with minimal cart abandonment risk.
The math is straightforward: if your average order is $100, a 15% AOV lift means every customer who accepts an offer adds $15 to that transaction. At scale across hundreds or thousands of orders a month, that adds up to meaningful revenue with no additional marketing spend — the upsell offer itself is the sale.
Pricing is designed around the same principle: Navidium charges 3% of the revenue your accepted upsell offers actually generate, billed weekly and capped at $999 per month. If an order doesn't include an accepted upsell, you pay nothing for it — there's no flat subscription fee sitting on top of results you haven't gotten yet. See Billing for the full breakdown.
