Tiered Bar

What the Tiered Bar does

The Tiered Bar is a progress indicator shown inside the cart drawer that motivates customers to add more to their order by showing how much more they need to spend to unlock a reward. It's a multi-purpose reward mechanic, not just a free-shipping bar — each tier you configure can unlock:

• Free shipping — e.g., "Spend $100, get free shipping"
• A discount — percentage or fixed amount off, e.g., "Spend $100, get 5% off"
• A free gift — e.g., "Spend $300, get a free gift"

You can mix reward types across tiers on the same bar (for example, a discount at the first threshold and a free gift at a higher one). As the cart total increases, the bar fills and updates its label; once a tier's threshold is met, it displays that tier's completion message.

Layout Template

Pick a pre-built visual layout for the bar, or click Choose Template to browse options.

Text after completing full rewards bar

The message shown once every tier is unlocked, e.g. "Free shipping unlocked!"

Count the tiered bar based on

Which cart value the bar tracks progress against — typically Subtotal Value.

Show Tiered bar on Empty cart

Keep the bar visible even before the customer adds anything, so they see the incentive right away.

Include Discounted Value towards Milestone

Count the post-discount price (rather than the original price) toward the tier threshold.

Tier options

Add one or more tiers, each configured independently:

Tier Name

Internal label for this tier, e.g. "Tier 1".

Tiered Type

What the tier unlocks: Free shipping, Discount (percentage or fixed amount off), or Free gift.

Minimum Amount

The cart subtotal (in your store's currency, e.g. $100) required to unlock this tier.

Provide shipping discount for

Only shown for Free shipping tiers — how the discount is applied, e.g. "No Discount (Shipping managed by Shopify)" if you handle it via Shopify's own shipping rates.

Label

Short label shown next to the tier, e.g. "Free shipping" or "5% off".

Text Before Completing This Tier

Progress message shown before the tier is unlocked. Supports the {min_amount} variable, e.g. "You're {min_amount} from 5% off."

Click Add Another Tier to stack multiple reward thresholds on the same bar — for example, a 5% discount at $100, then a free gift at $300.

Tier exclusions

Turn on Enable Tier Exclusion to prevent certain items from counting toward tier progress:

Exclusion Type

Exclude Products, Exclude Collections, or Exclude Tags — choose which items are affected.

Select Products

Choose the specific products, collections, or tags this exclusion applies to.

Exclusion action — Exclude value

The excluded items' value is removed from the tier progress calculation, but the bar still shows.

Exclusion action — Hide widget

The entire Tiered Bar is hidden whenever the cart contains an excluded item.

Tier style

Fine-tune the bar's appearance: tiered box background color and border radius, bar background/foreground color, active and inactive icon background/border/color, label font size and color (separately for active and inactive states), header text color and font size, and overall progress bar height.
